Ep 19. Don't Look At Me

In Desperate Housewives season 2 episode 19 titled "Don't Look At Me," the ladies of Wisteria Lane are dealing with some major issues. Bree (Marcia Cross) is struggling with her divorce from Rex (Steven Culp) and trying to cope with her increasingly problematic son, Andrew (Shawn Pyfrom). Meanwhile, Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is becoming increasingly stressed out as she juggles her full-time job with raising her four rambunctious kids.

Susan (Teri Hatcher) is feeling self-conscious after her ex-husband, Karl (Richard Burgi), comments on her aging appearance. She decides to take matters into her own hands and undergoes a radical change in her appearance. However, her new look doesn't exactly go over well with her friends and neighbors. Also, Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) is struggling to keep her affair with John (Jesse Metcalfe) a secret when his mother comes to visit and starts meddling in their relationship.

As the ladies struggle to deal with their various personal issues, they all find themselves turning to the one person who seems to have it all together – their mysterious and aloof neighbor, Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard). Betty seems to have all the answers, but the more the other women try to get to know her, the more elusive she becomes.

Throughout the episode, we see each of the women dealing with their own insecurities and struggles. Bree is battling with her own guilt over her role in Rex's death and her ongoing difficulties with Andrew. Lynette is feeling overwhelmed and underappreciated as she tries to balance work and family. Susan is desperately trying to hold onto her youth and attractiveness, while Gabrielle is struggling to keep up her facade of being a wealthy and carefree trophy wife.

Despite all of their individual struggles, the women of Wisteria Lane continue to band together and support each other as best they can. They attend each other's events, offer advice and support, and generally try to navigate the ups and downs of life together. And as the episode comes to a close, we're left wondering just what other surprises and challenges await these desperate housewives in the weeks and months ahead.
