As Jumong season 1 episode 5 begins, we find Jumong in the woods, being hunted by the slave traders. He successfully evades capture and is eventually joined by Hyeopbo, an escaped slave who had helped him in a previous episode. Together, they make their way to Buyeo, where Jumong hopes to reunite with his mother, Lady Yuhwa.

Meanwhile, in the palace, Daeso and Youngpo are still vying for their father's attention. Daeso, frustrated with his lack of recognition, attempts to assassinate Jumong's half-brother Yuri, in order to gain favor with his father. However, his plan backfires and he is scolded by his father, who tells him to focus on protecting the kingdom rather than causing chaos.

We also see So Seo No, a skilled horse rider and archer, being forced into an arranged marriage. She refuses the marriage and escapes, only to stumble upon Jumong and Hyeopbo in the woods. So Seo No proves to be a valuable ally to Jumong and helps him navigate the political landscape of Buyeo.

As the episode progresses, tensions rise between the kingdoms of Buyeo and Han. Buyeo's king is hesitant to go to war, but his advisers urge him to take action before Han has a chance to attack them. Daeso sees this as an opportunity to finally prove himself and volunteers to lead the Buyeo army into battle. However, his arrogance and lack of experience costs the army dearly and they suffer a crushing defeat.

At the end of the episode, Jumong reunites with his mother and is able to meet with his half-brothers, Yuri and Biryu. Yuri, who had been previously jealous of Jumong's position as their father's chosen successor, begins to warm up to him and sees the benefits of working together. Biryu, on the other hand, remains aloof and skeptical of Jumong's intentions.

Overall, Jumong season 1 episode 5 is characterized by political intrigue, personal rivalries, and strategic maneuvering between the kingdoms of Buyeo and Han. We see Jumong and his allies growing stronger, but also facing significant challenges and setbacks along the way.
