Jumong season 1 episode 4, titled "Jumong 4", begins with Jumong, the young prince of Buyeo, struggling to adapt to his new life as a slave. He is made to work in the fields alongside other slaves, enduring back-breaking labor under the scorching sun.

Meanwhile, his mother, Lady Yoo Hwa, continues to organize a rebellion against Buyeo's corrupt ruler Daeso, and forms an unlikely alliance with the nomadic Xiongnu tribe. Together, they plan to invade Buyeo and overthrow Daeso, who has become increasingly paranoid and ruthless in his rule.

Jumong manages to escape from his slave master with the help of a kind-hearted farmer, but he is soon captured and brought back to Buyeo. Daeso offers to spare Jumong's life if he agrees to fight in the gladiatorial arena and use his incredible archery skills to entertain the masses. Jumong initially refuses, knowing that he would be fighting to entertain the same people who had enslaved him. But he ultimately agrees to participate in the games, hoping to use his newfound status as a gladiator to gain leverage against Daeso and help his mother's rebellion.

As Jumong trains for the arena, he develops a close relationship with the Xiongnu princess Yesoya, who is also being held captive in Buyeo. Yesoya is impressed with Jumong's archery skills and his courage in standing up to Daeso, and the two slowly begin to fall in love. But their budding romance is threatened by the ongoing conflict between Buyeo and the Xiongnu, and Daeso's machinations to keep them apart.

As the episode concludes, Jumong prepares to enter the arena for his first gladiatorial match, surrounded by bloodthirsty spectators cheering for his death. Will he be able to survive and use his newfound status to further his mother's rebellion against Daeso? And will his growing love for Yesoya survive the brutal politics of ancient Korea? Viewers will have to wait for future episodes to find out.
