Ep 2. Dark Crossing

In season 4 episode 2 of Mountain Men, titled "Dark Crossing," the rugged men return to the wilderness and face new challenges as they continue to live off the land. In this episode, we follow several cast members as they brave the harsh conditions of nature to eke out a living.

One cast member is Tom Oar, who lives in a remote Montana cabin with his wife Nancy. Tom is a seasoned mountain man, having spent most of his life living off the land. In "Dark Crossing," Tom faces a daunting task: he has to move his outhouse across a frozen river to a new location. Tom sets to work, chopping a hole in the ice and building a sled to transport the outhouse. The process is difficult and time-consuming, and Tom has to rely on all of his mountain man skills to pull it off.

Another cast member is Eustace Conway, who lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Eustace is an expert in primitive survival techniques, and in this episode, he is tasked with building a new barn for his livestock. The only problem is that he has to transport all of the building materials up a steep hill to the barn site. Eustace enlists the help of his friend Preston, and together they use a team of oxen to haul the logs up the hill. It's a grueling task, but Eustace is determined to see it through.

Meanwhile, in Alaska, Marty Meierotto faces his own set of challenges. Marty lives in a remote cabin deep in the Alaskan wilderness, and in "Dark Crossing," he has to cross a frozen lake to check his trapline. The lake is treacherous, and Marty has to navigate around several thin spots in the ice. When he reaches his trapline, he finds that several of his traps have been sprung, but there are no animals inside. Marty suspects that a wolverine may be stealing his catches, so he sets out to catch the elusive predator.

Finally, we have Rich Lewis, who lives in the Ruby Valley of Montana. Rich is a trapper, and in "Dark Crossing," he is preparing to head out on a new trapping expedition. Rich faces a number of challenges as he gears up for his trip, including repairing his snowmobile and packing enough supplies to last him several days in the wilderness. But even with all of his preparations, Rich knows that his success on the trapline is far from guaranteed.

As the episode unfolds, we see these four men face their respective challenges with determination and grit. Whether it's hauling logs up a steep hill, crossing a dangerous frozen lake, or battling a wily predator, each man must draw on his unique set of skills to succeed. With stunning footage of the rugged wilderness and the men who call it home, "Dark Crossing" is a thrilling episode that showcases the best of what Mountain Men has to offer.
