Beverly is beyond excited for Erica to land the lead in the school musical, "Annie," and gets overly involved during the audition process. Adam comes out of left field with a surprise hobby that scares everyone, Meanwhile, Murray and Barry are annoyed by a lack of invite to Disneyland, on "The Goldbergs," WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23 (8:00-8:30 p.m. EDT), on ABC. "The Goldbergs" stars Wendi McLendon-Covey as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt as adult Adam Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia as Erica Goldberg, Summer Spiro as Joya Barris, Sam Lerner as Geoff Schwartz, Noah Munck as 'Naked' Rob Smith, and George Segal as Albert 'Pops' Solomon. Guest starring is Stephen Tobolowsky as Principal Ball and Nate Hartley as Dan. Beverly wants nothing more than to be involved in her children's lives, which includes Erica's dream of being the lead in the school's production of Annie. But, Beverly takes her support to the next level, becoming too controlling in the audition process. Meanwhile, Adam develops an interest in the art of magic, much to his mother's disapproval. The comedy of the episode stems from these two storylines colliding. Beverly's determination to see Erica succeed leads to some hilarious situations, including Beverly's attempts at giving a pep talk to the other auditionees or even taking control of the spotlight during the actual performance. At the same time, Adam's newfound hobby of magic leads to some disastrous consequences, including upsetting his parents by seemingly wasting his time on something frivolous and the family home being destroyed by one of his tricks. In addition to these major plot points, the episode also explores the dynamic between Murray and Barry Goldberg. They feel left out when they discover the rest of their family has planned a trip to Disneyland without them.
