Voltron: Legendary Defender is a reboot of the classic 1980s animated show Voltron. The show premiered on Netflix in 2016 and ran for eight seasons until 2018. The series is set in a distant universe where five young pilots are chosen to protect the galaxy from an evil empire.

The show follows five teenagers, Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, and Shiro, who are recruited by the alien Princess Allura to form the legendary warrior, Voltron. The five must pilot robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, a giant robot that is the last hope to defeat the evil Galra Empire. Together, they embark on a dangerous mission to save the universe from the tyranny of Zarkon, the leader of the Galra Empire.

Keith is the leader of the group and is the pilot of the Red Lion. He is a skilled fighter and a natural leader who often clashes with the other members of the team. Lance is the pilot of the Blue Lion and is known for his wit and charm. He often provides comic relief, but he can also be brave and heroic when needed. Hunk is the pilot of the Yellow Lion and is the team's cook. He is often scared and nervous but can be surprisingly brave in the face of danger. Pidge is the pilot of the Green Lion and is the team's tech expert. She is determined to find her missing family and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. Shiro is the team's mentor and the pilot of the Black Lion. He is a former prisoner of the Galra Empire and has a tragic past that he must confront.

Along with the main characters, there are several recurring characters that help to flesh out the world of the show. Princess Allura is the last surviving member of the Altean race and is the one who tasks the team with saving the universe. Coran is her advisor and provides comedic relief with his bumbling nature. Zarkon is the main villain of the series and is obsessed with finding the powerful energy source known as the Quintessence.

The show starts off with a few standalone episodes, but as the series progresses, a larger storyline begins to emerge. The team discovers that there are other Galra commanders who are vying for power and that there is more to the Galra Empire's actions than what they first thought. The show also explores the characters' backstories and motivations, which allow the audience to become fully invested in their journey.

The animation style of the show is reminiscent of anime and is visually stunning. The action scenes are well choreographed, and the fight sequences are exciting to watch. The show also features a fantastic soundtrack that adds to the sense of epicness of the battles.

One of the strengths of the show is its diversity. The main characters are from different backgrounds and cultures, and their personalities and experiences are fully fleshed out. The show also features characters from different races and sexual orientations, which is refreshing to see in a children's show.

Overall, Voltron: Legendary Defender is an excellent reboot of the classic '80s animated show. It combines action, adventure, and drama with well-rounded characters and an epic storyline. The show manages to be both thrilling and emotional, and it is sure to entertain audiences of all ages.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is a series that is currently running and has 8 seasons (92 episodes). The series first aired on June 10, 2016.
