Ep 8. Copy That

Val and Holly's father, Jack, surprises them with a visit. Holly is ecstatic to see him since their relationship has been strained since he left their mother for another woman. Meanwhile, Val is tense around him and wants him to leave immediately. To make matters worse, Jack announces that he's quitting his job and starting his own business, and he wants Holly to invest in it. Holly agrees but soon realizes that the business is a scam. She tries to tell her father, but Val warns her that it will only damage their relationship further. Holly decides to invest the money anyways and hopes for the best. Meanwhile, Val meets a guy named Rick who seems perfect for her. However, she starts to doubt her feelings for him when she learns that he's a copy editor and makes fun of her mistakes. When Val finally confronts Rick about his job, he reveals that he only teases her because he likes her and is trying to impress her. In the end, Holly's investment pays off, and Val decides to give Rick another chance. The episode ends with Holly and Val bonding with their father and asking him to stay for a little while longer.
