Justice League: Doom is the animated film adaptation of a story arc called "JLA: Tower of Babel" and was written and adapted by Dwayne McDuffie shortly before his death. The film is even in memory of him. The immortal Vandal Savage has spent time and money collecting supervillains to defeat the Justice League. This begins with Savage hiring the Flash villain, Mirror Master, to sneak into the Bat Cave via the Batmobile's rear-view mirror and accessing information from Batman's computer. The notable information involves the paranoid Batman's well thought out plans to neutralize or defeat each member of the Justice League. These plans go as follows. To defeat Batman, the muscular criminal Bane carelessly unearths the graves of Thomas and Martha Wayne, then pummels Bruce Wayne into submission and buries him in a coffin in one of the existing graves. The Martian Manhunter is dispatched by rogue Martian Ma'alefa'ak who poses as an attractive female during Jon's birthday party, using the lit candles and a drink laced with magnesium carbonate. This will ensure that the Manhunter will painfully burn until he dies, with no readily available way of extinguishing the flames. Wonder Woman spars with Cheetah, receiving one scratch which turns out to be laced with a neurochemical, Diana now sees Cheetah instead of what a person should look like and goes on a rampage. The Flash is stuck with a bomb through his arm that will explode should he ever decelerate. Hal Jordan is made to feel as if he had failed as a protector, when an android resembling his lover is killed in a staged explosion. Superman is blindsided by Metallo, initially posing as a civilian, and fatally shot with kryptonite shrapnel. Eventually Batman breaks free and realizes what's going on. With the League seemingly dispatched, Savage is free to then conquer the entire planet, giving an equal share of what's left to each supervillain. However, most of Earth will roast from solar winds before divvying the spoils.
