Stealing Beauty is a 1996 film about a girl who is turning into an adult, and is on her own personal journey. Her journey consists of finding her true self and elements of her life that are missing and need to be put into place since she is growing up. In Italy, many people have come to appreciate an English artist's paintings and have come to have their own picture painted on the villa hilltop where he resides. The interest in this location is that the artist paints amazing, unique pictures of them. Lucy Harmon was one of those people four years ago before her poet mother, Sara Harmon, committed suicide. Now, she is coming back to that same spot at the villa because she wants to rekindle her relationship with a young Italian guy she had met previously. Also, this is not the only reason why she wants to go back to Italy. She has brought her mother's diary filled with enigmatic poems that reveal Lucy was conceived on that exact hilltop. The problem is that Lucy does not know who her father is and is using her mother's diary to solve this mystery since she cannot ask her. Her father could be a mixture of people, but the clues from the diary point to three main men. The three main guys are an Italian man who was in the war, a man who is now a dying English playwright resident, and an artist who uses a chainsaw on the wood of trees to make unique sculptures. Since these three men do not know Lucy's purpose for being there, she can make conversation with them easily. The artist's wife, her daughter, and the daughter's American boyfriend are very interested in that fact that Lucy is still a virgin at almost twenty years old. Although she plans to lose her virginity, she does not know who to choose, but she does have the attention of all the men in the town.
