The Deep Blue Sea is a British romantic drama movie that is adapted from a 1952 Terence Rattigan play and the 1955 movie of the same name. The film tells the conflicted love story of a woman named Hester Collyer. The story takes place in the 1950s. Hester is a young woman married to the distinguished Sir William Collyer, a High Court judge. They have a comfortable marriage with a restricted level of affection. However, Hester desires more. Her lack of passion leads her into the arms of a young, handsome, thrill-seeking former RAF pilot, Freddie Page who is plagued with the memories of World War II. As the love affair progresses, it is not long before Hester’s secret is discovered. Eventually, she has to leave the stability and luxuries of her married life and transition to a small, rundown flat in London with her new lover. However, Hester soon discovers her new life is not what she hoped it would be.
