The rest of the episode follows Toma as he tries to protect Index from her pursuers. He learns that the organization seeking the grimoire is the Church of England's Necessarius, a powerful group of magicians who believe that the grimoire holds the key to world domination. Toma uses his own unique ability, the power to cancel out any supernatural power on contact, to fend off their attacks.

Along the way, Toma also finds himself in trouble with a group of "Level 5" espers, the most powerful and respected espers in Academy City. They are unhappy with Toma's interference in the conflict with Necessarius and try to take him down. Toma is able to use his quick thinking and fighting skills to escape their grasp.

The episode ends with Toma and Index taking refuge at a nearby church, where he meets a nun who appears to know a lot about the grimoire and the conflict with Necessarius. Viewers are left with the impression that Toma and Index will have many more adventures and battles to come.
