Ep 3. Necessarius (The Church of Necessary Evil)

In A Certain Magical Index season 1 episode 3 titled Necessarius (The Church of Necessary Evil), the focus is on Tōma after he finds himself in the midst of a new conflict between different factions and abilities in the city. The episode starts with Tōma getting an invitation from Stiyl Magnus, a magician and member of the secretive society Necessarius, inviting him to attend a meeting.

However, Tōma is skeptical of the group's motives, given how unorthodox they are for a church. His doubts are confirmed when he is introduced to the leader of the group, a woman named Laura Stuart. Laura explains to Tōma that they must act quickly to prevent a dangerous and powerful magician known as Aureolus Izzard from attempting to bypass the natural laws of the world and bring his dead wife back to life.

As Tōma soon finds out, Aureolus is not someone to be taken lightly. Unlike most magicians, he possesses extremely dangerous knowledge, making him virtually unbeatable. Furthermore, his obsession with his dead wife has blinded him to the consequences of his actions and he will stop at nothing to succeed in his efforts.

With the help of the Necessarius group, Tōma and the others devise a plan to put an end to Aureolus's dangerous pursuit. However, as they begin their mission, they quickly realize that Aureolus is an even bigger threat than they thought, and the stakes are higher than they had initially thought.

The group soon discovers that Aureolus has hidden his research deep within the catacombs beneath the city. They quickly realize that they must act quickly if they are to stop him before it's too late. Tōma and the others then embark on a perilous journey deep into the catacombs, where they face all manner of obstacles and dangers in their quest to stop Aureolus.

As they reach Aureolus's hideout, Tōma and the group engage in a fierce battle with Aureolus, who seems to have the upper hand at every turn. But with Tōma's abilities and quick thinking, they are ultimately able to unravel Aureolus's plans and put an end to his pursuit.

In the end, Tōma's courage and quick thinking are rewarded, and he becomes a valuable member of the Necessarius group. Through his experience, he gains new insight into the complex world of magic and science, and the ever-shifting balance between the two.
