Ep 1. We're Having a Heat Wave

As the fourth season of All in the Family begins, the Stivics are trying to cool off during a heat wave by spending time in their air-conditioned apartment. However, Archie and Edith's house is not equipped with air conditioning, leading to tensions between the two couples.

Archie has a particularly hard time dealing with the heat, constantly complaining and refusing to leave his favorite chair. On top of that, his business is suffering due to the heat wave, as people are not interested in buying furniture during such hot weather.

At the same time, Gloria is pregnant and is having trouble dealing with the heat as well. She spends most of her time lying down in front of a fan, trying to stay cool.

To make matters worse, Mike and Gloria's apartment loses power, forcing them to seek refuge at Archie and Edith's house. This only adds to the tensions, as Mike and Archie argue over politics and the best way to deal with the heat.

Meanwhile, Edith is trying to do her best to keep the peace and make sure everyone is comfortable. She offers to cook dinner for everyone and suggests they all go to a movie theater that has air conditioning, but her efforts are met with resistance.

As the episode goes on, the heat continues to take its toll on everyone. There are moments of humor, such as when Archie tries to rig up a homemade air conditioner using a fan and a cardboard box, but for the most part, everyone is miserable.

Despite this, the episode ultimately ends on a positive note. After a power outage leaves the entire neighborhood without electricity, the Stivics and the Bunkers come together to sit outside and enjoy the cooler evening air. There is a sense of camaraderie and community that wasn't present earlier in the episode, and it feels like everyone is able to put aside their differences for a moment and enjoy each other's company.
