Arata the Legend is an anime television series produced by Satelight and based on the manga series of the same name authored by Yuu Watase. The manga series was first published in 2008 in Weekly Shōnen Sunday Magazine and later adapted into an anime television series in 2013.

The story revolves around a young boy named Arata Hinohara who is living in present-day Japan. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when he finds himself transported to a fantasy world called Amawakuni. In this alternate world, he is mistakenly identified as a princess named Arata and is forced to take on her identity to avoid being executed.

The world of Amawakuni is divided into two kingdoms: the Hime and the Males. The Hime Kingdom is ruled by women while the Males Kingdom is ruled by men. The two kingdoms are in a constant state of war due to their ideological differences.

Arata, as the princess of the Hime Kingdom, is tasked with the responsibility of helping to maintain the balance between the two kingdoms. To do this, he must find the legendary Hayagami, powerful gods that grant their wielders immense power, and use them to unite the kingdoms.

Along the way, Arata meets several other characters who become his allies and friends. These characters include Kadowaki, a childhood friend from his old world who also finds himself transported to Amawakuni, and Kannagi, a member of the Twelve Shinshou, a group of elite warriors who are tasked with protecting the princess.

One of the key themes of the series is the idea of identity. Arata must struggle with his own identity as both a boy from the modern world and a princess in a fantasy world. He must also confront the idea of gender roles and the restrictions placed on him as a result of his new identity.

The series, while primarily focused on action and adventure, also explores deeper themes such as friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice. The relationships between the characters are complex and nuanced, and the series does an excellent job of showcasing the growth and development of its characters over time.

The animation quality of the series is top-notch, with vibrant colors and fluid movements that bring the world of Amawakuni to life. The music is also excellent, with a dynamic and epic soundtrack that complements the action-packed scenes of the series.

Overall, Arata the Legend is an excellent anime series that combines action, adventure, and deep themes to create a compelling and enjoyable viewing experience. With its well-crafted characters and intricate plot, it is a must-watch for fans of the genre.

Arata the Legend is a series that is currently running and has 1 seasons (12 episodes). The series first aired on April 8, 2013.
