Oliver Queen has been leading a double life as the Green Arrow to bring justice to the city of Starling. In Episode 13, "Betrayal," things start to unravel as Oliver is faced with a betrayal from someone close to him.
The episode starts with the Mayor, who is a central figure in the Glades, being assassinated by an unknown attacker. Oliver and his team, including Diggle and Felicity, quickly start investigating the murder, and their suspicions soon turn to Moira Queen, Oliver's own mother.
As they gather more evidence, Oliver becomes convinced that his mother was involved in the assassination. He confronts her, but Moira denies everything and insists that she had nothing to do with it. Oliver decides to contact his mother's former associate, Frank, to help him find out the truth.
Meanwhile, Tommy Merlyn, Oliver's best friend, is having doubts about his relationship with Laurel Lance. He turns to his father, Malcolm Merlyn, for advice, but quickly learns that his father has dark secrets of his own.
As Oliver and Frank continue to investigate Moira's past, they discover that she was a member of the secret organization, the Tempest. The Tempest's goal is to destroy the Glades and rebuild it as a new city, but their methods are ruthless and extreme.
Oliver confronts his mother about her involvement with the Tempest, and she finally confesses the truth. She reveals that she was forced to join the organization when she discovered their plans to destroy the Glades, and she has been working to stop them from the inside ever since.
In the final moments of the episode, Oliver and his team race to stop the Tempest from carrying out their plan to detonate an earthquake-inducing device in the Glades. They are able to stop the device just in time, but not without some casualties.
"Betrayal" is a thrilling episode full of twists and turns. Viewers will be on the edge of their seats as Oliver navigates the complex web of lies and secrets surrounding his own family. This episode also sets up future plotlines involving the Tempest and the Merlyn family, keeping viewers hooked and eager for more.
