Ep 5. Labor of Love

In Auction Hunters season 2 episode 5, titled "Labor of Love," seasoned auction hunters Allen Haff and Ton Jones head to Santa Ana, California in search of valuable items hidden in abandoned storage units. The dynamic duo enters five different storage units and face fierce competition from rival bidders.

Their first unit yields an impressive collection of vintage clothing, including cowboy hats and leather jackets. They estimate the value of the items to be around $2,000 and quickly secure the winning bid. When they bring the clothing to their expert appraiser, Roy, he values the collection at a whopping $3,500, giving them an instant profit.

Their next unit is filled to the brim with furniture and household items. Allen and Ton manage to secure the unit for a reasonable price and sift through the items to find a stunning antique Victrola phonograph. Even though it's in need of some repairs, the experts agree that the item has the potential to fetch a high price at auction. They are feeling confident after their first two successful units and continue on their hunt.

Their third unit seems promising, with boxes piled high and the possibility of hidden treasures. However, as they begin to sort through the boxes, they realize that the previous owner was a hoarder and most of the items are of little value. They do come across an interesting collection of old beer cans, but their expert appraiser advises them that the cans are not valuable and are unlikely to sell.

Undeterred by their previous lack of success, Allen and Ton enter the next unit with high hopes. As soon as they open the door, they are excited to see a vintage motorcycle and an antique cash register. They immediately secure the unit for a high bid and take the items to their appraiser for evaluation. The motorcycle is in good condition and the appraiser estimates its value to be around $6,000. The cash register, on the other hand, is not worth much and is in need of significant repairs.

Their fifth and final unit of the day is filled with boxes of tools and electronics. While they don't expect to find any high-value items, they manage to uncover a hidden stash of gold and silver coins. The coins are evaluated by their appraiser and are valued at over $2,500.

Overall, Allen and Ton had a successful day at the Santa Ana storage auctions, turning a profit on four out of five units. As they load their winnings into their truck, they discuss their plans to repair and sell the items, knowing that they have found some valuable treasures and have added to their inventory of items to sell at auction in the future.
