In Bonanza season 9 episode 13, entitled Justice Deferred, the Cartwright family is faced with a moral dilemma when a group of outlaws arrive in Virginia City to collect loot from an earlier robbery. The leader of the group, Darcy, had been captured during the robbery and sentenced to hang. But, before his execution, he gives his share of the loot to a young man named Drew who has just arrived in town.

Drew comes to the Ponderosa and asks the Cartwrights for their help. He is a young man with a troubled past and a strong sense of justice. He wants to use the stolen money to help his community and make a better life for himself and his mother. The Cartwrights are conflicted about the situation. On one hand, they understand Drew's motives and believe that the money could do good. On the other hand, they do not want to be complicit in a crime and fear the consequences of harboring outlaws.

Meanwhile, the outlaws are hot on Drew's trail. They are determined to get their money back and will stop at nothing to do so. The Cartwrights must try and protect Drew while also maintaining their own moral code and avoiding the attention of the law.

As the tension builds, the Cartwrights are forced to make difficult decisions about what is right and wrong. They struggle with their own beliefs and the consequences that may follow. This episode explores themes of justice, morality, and redemption. It also showcases the strong bond between the Cartwrights as they come together to protect their own and do what they believe is right.
