Bosch and Edgar try to contact the contractors, but the phone numbers that they find from their records turn out to be disconnected. This leads them to believe that the contractors have gone out of business, but Bosch follows his hunch and stakes out the van while it's parked at their office yard. From across the street, Bosch observes the van and the people moving around it.
