In the eighth episode of the first season of Bring the Funny, titled "The Semi-final Showcase 1," the remaining six acts compete for a spot in the final round of the competition. Host Amanda Seales sets the stage for the night's festivities, while judges Chrissy Teigen, Jeff Foxworthy, and Kenan Thompson take their seats to observe the performances.

The first act to take the stage is the sketch comedy group, Frangela. They perform a skit that pokes fun at social media influencers and the lengths some will go to gain followers. The judges are impressed with their clever writing and high-energy performance.

Next up is magician Piff the Magic Dragon, who is known for his sarcastic humor and quirky tricks. He wows the judges with a card trick that involves his dog, Mr. Piffles, and a volunteer from the audience. Jeff Foxworthy notes that Piff's act has improved since his previous performance on the show.

Stand-up comedian Erica Rhodes follows with a set that focuses on her love of books and her goody-two-shoes persona. While some of the jokes fall flat, her infectious energy wins over the audience and the judges.

The fourth act of the night is the musical comedy duo Chris and Paul, who bring their unique blend of songwriting and comedic timing to the stage. They perform an original song about the perils of online dating that has the audience dancing in their seats. Kenan Thompson commends them for their ability to create catchy tunes while still being hilarious.

Comedian Ali Siddiq takes the stage next, delivering a set that focuses on his experiences in prison and his journey to become a comedian. While he touches on some heavy topics, his natural charisma and relatable anecdotes keep the judges and audience engaged.

The final act of the night is the sketch comedy group, The Valleyfolk. They perform a skit about a group of alien imposters trying to blend in on earth. Their off-beat humor and impressive comedic timing leave the judges wanting more.

After all the acts have performed, the judges deliberate and ultimately select the four acts that will move on to the final round of the competition. The tension is high as the remaining performers anxiously await the results. Who will make the final cut and have a chance to win the grand prize of $250,000? Tune in to find out on Bring the Funny!
