As they delve deeper into his medical history, they discover some shocking information that could jeopardize the child's chances of receiving a life-saving liver transplant.

Meanwhile, Dr. Connor Rhodes (played by Colin Donnell) treats a patient with a rare neurological disorder who becomes increasingly unpredictable and dangerous as the episode progresses. As Rhodes and Dr. Ava Bekker (played by Norma Kuhling) work to find a diagnosis, they must also navigate their complicated romantic relationship.

Dr. Daniel Charles (played by Oliver Platt) faces a difficult decision when a patient insists on being taken off life support against his family's wishes. Charles must balance the patient's autonomy with his duty to do no harm and provide compassionate care to those in need.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Sarah Reese (played by Rachel DiPillo) and her estranged father, Dr. Morris Halstead (played by D.W. Moffett), struggle to reconnect after years of tension. As they work together on a medical case, Reese must confront her own feelings and the possibility of reconciliation.

Throughout the episode, the doctors and nurses of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center face challenges both in and out of the hospital. As they navigate these uncharted territories, they must rely on their expertise, compassion, and the support of their colleagues to provide the best care possible.
