Claim to Fame is a new reality competition series that premiered on ABC in July 2022. Hosted by brothers Kevin and Frankie Jonas, the show features 12 contestants who are all related to a famous celebrity, but their identity and connection is kept hidden. The contestants compete in various challenges that test their talent and knowledge of pop culture and celebrity trivia. Through games like “Who the Blank Is That?” and six degrees of separation, they try to figure out one another’s secret identities. The contestants live together in a house constantly speculating about each other’s celebrity relatives. One by one they are eliminated until only two remain for the finale where one contestant will win the $100,000 prize and their “claim to fame.”

Contestants offer cryptic clues about their celebrity relative without fully revealing the connection. For instance, one might share they have 12 gold records in their family without specifying it’s their mom or dad. The contestants scrutinize social media posts and pictures hunting for telling details. They have no access to the outside world beyond the photos and clues in the house. The celebrity relatives range from athletes and reality stars to A-list singers and Academy Award winning actors. The relatives remain a mystery except to viewers who see photos and names revealed.

Challenges test the contestants’ recall, knowledge of pop culture trivia, and ability to identify voices, faces or data linked to different celebrities. For example, they compete to name the most songs and artists from short audio clips. Physical competitions also reflect their relatives’ talents, like a dance challenge or swimming race. The competitions add strategy about whether to perform too well and raise suspicions. After challenges, contestants anonymously vote to “X out” who they suspect is the most famous relative, putting them at risk of elimination.

The clues, games, gossip and voting out ceremonies all happen on elaborate sets reflecting Hollywood award shows, concerts and more. Over 12 episodes, the contestants size each other up through lively discussions where alliances form and shift. Viewers play along with the guessing game, scrutinizing clues before the celebrity relatives are finally revealed in dramatic, surprise eliminations.

Claim to Fame captured viewers’ imaginations throughout its first season as it combined intriguing mysteries, amusing gossip and intense competition. The diverse celebrity relatives added to the appeal. On social media, fans widely shared theories guessing each contestant's identity. The final two kept their secret until the last minute finale when one remaining contestant took the prize money and bragging rights. Their “claim to fame” outlasted the others.

Blend of mystery gameshow and reality competition, Claim to Fame offered summer entertainment through unpredictable twists, over-the-top productions, and laugh out loud revelations. Viewers enjoyed playing along and the inside look at contestants managing fame by association. The celebrity relatives added to the fun, either cheering on loved ones or amusingly failing to recognize them on the show. Claim to Fame brought a novel concept and delivered suspense, surprises and silly moments throughout its debut season. Proving a ratings success, fans anticipate its return for more revelations, hijinks and inside scoops from this famous family face-off.

Claim to Fame is a series that is currently running and has 3 seasons (23 episodes). The series first aired on July 11, 2022.
