Ep 2. Brave New World

Will and Katie continue their quest to rescue their son Charlie and flee the oppressive alien occupation in the second episode of Colony season 1, titled "Brave New World." With the help of their ally Carlos, the couple sets out to gather resources to escape Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, Proxy Snyder, the apparent collaborator with the invading force, has his own agenda. He has a meeting with the Red Hand, a resistance group working against the alien overlords. They demand Snyder intervene to secure the release of some of their members who were recently captured by the Occupation.

As the negotiations progress, Snyder encounters a new character, Helena Goldwyn, a mysterious woman of great power and position. With her presence and influence felt throughout the Occupied Zone, Snyder realizes quickly that she is someone to be respected and reckoned with.

Back on the streets, Will and Carlos set about finding the resources they'll need for their trip. They forge an alliance with a group of smugglers, led by the aptly-named Bearded Man. In a moment of trust building, Bearded Man reveals to Will that his sister was the "first casualty" of the Occupation. The moment is poignant and serves to underscore the human cost of the alien invasion.

Katie, on the other hand, finds herself pulled into the orbit of fellow resistance member Jennifer McMahon. Jennifer is sharp and smart, but she harbors a deep trauma from her time in a "Factory" controlled by the Occupation. McMahon labors to try and free the remaining hostages, as well as herself from the trauma that she's still processing.

As Will and Carlos round up the last of the resources they need, things take a turn.

The smugglers' compound gets raided by the Red Hand, and in the ensuing squabble, one of their own gets killed. Bearded Man feels duty-bound to avenge the death of his associate and sets out for vengeance. Will and Carlos find themselves trapped in the middle of the conflict between the Red Hand and the smugglers, with only their wits to rely on.

Meanwhile, Proxy Snyder's reputation as the "man who gets things done" suffers a blow. The Red Hand kidnaps a VIP of the Occupation, and Snyder finds himself in danger of being killed.

In the episode's final moments, Will and Carlos make a daring escape. But as they head back towards safety, they find themselves ambushed by the Occupiers and trapped in a life or death struggle.

"Brave New World" is a thrilling, fast-paced episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. From the pulse-pounding conflicts on the streets to the shadowy dealings at the highest levels of the Occupation, this episode serves as a powerful reminder of the horrors that come with an oppressive regime. But it is also a reminder of the power of human resistance and the power of hope in even the darkest of times.
