Just Brent And His Shadow is the fourth episode of the fourth season of Corner Gas. The episode begins with Brent, the owner of the gas station and leader of the gang of friends, feeling a bit down. He's been trying to come up with a good idea for a new business venture, but nothing seems to be working out. His friends try to cheer him up, but he's in a funk.
Later that day, Brent begins noticing that his shadow seems to be following him everywhere he goes. At first, he thinks nothing of it, but as the day goes on, he becomes more and more convinced that his shadow is out to get him. He tries to avoid it, but it seems to be getting closer and closer.
Meanwhile, Dog River is buzzing about a new restaurant that has opened up just outside of town, called Le Bistro. Lacey, the owner of the local coffee shop, is particularly excited about it, and convinces the gang to go there for dinner. They all dress up and head to the restaurant, but when they arrive, they find that it's completely empty. The owner, a snobbish Frenchman named Jean Paul, greets them dismissively, and they quickly realize that they may have made a mistake.
Back at the gas station, Brent is still struggling with his shadow. He tries to get rid of it, but it continues to follow him everywhere he goes. Eventually, he becomes convinced that it's a sign that he's meant to be doing something great, and he enlists the help of his friends to come up with a new business idea. They brainstorm a number of different possibilities, but none of them seem to be quite right.
As the night wears on, the gang at Le Bistro becomes more and more disgruntled with Jean Paul's snobbish attitude. Lacey tries to engage him in conversation, but he's dismissive and rude. Brent's parents, who have come to visit from out of town, start to argue about their marital problems. And when the food finally arrives, it's terrible.
Back at the gas station, Brent is still struggling with his shadow. He tries to outrun it, but it keeps up with him. Finally, he comes to a realization - his shadow is just a part of himself, and he needs to embrace it. He goes back to the gang with a new proposal for a business: a fitness center called "Just Our Shadow". The gang is skeptical, but Brent insists that it's a great idea.
The next day, Brent sets to work on his new fitness center. He paints the walls, puts up posters, and buys exercise equipment. At first, nobody seems interested, but eventually, a few people start to come in. Brent's parents even come to see the place, and they're impressed with what he's done.
Just Brent And His Shadow is a funny and heartwarming episode that focuses on the importance of embracing all parts of ourselves - even those we may not like. It's a great reminder that we're all our own worst enemies sometimes, and that we need to learn to be kinder to ourselves.
