In Episode 4 of Dark Shadows: The Beginning, tensions rise as the Collins family grapples with the mysterious disappearance of David's father, Roger Collins. Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the matriarch of the family, is determined to find answers and enlists the help of her brother, Roger's business partner, to search for him.

Meanwhile, Victoria Winters, the governess hired to care for young David, continues to uncover more secrets about the Collins family and the history of the grand estate, known as Collinwood. She discovers a hidden room in the house and begins to piece together clues about the family's troubled past.

As the search for Roger intensifies, strange occurrences begin to unfold around Collinwood. David becomes convinced that his father is in danger and implores Victoria to help him. But when they venture into the woods to search for him, they encounter a terrifying supernatural force that threatens to consume them both.

Back at the house, tensions between Elizabeth and her nephew, David's father-figure, Joe Haskell, continue to escalate. Joe's interest in Victoria is growing, much to Elizabeth's disapproval. The two exchange heated words, as Joe defends his intentions and Elizabeth remains skeptical of his true motives.

As the episode comes to a close, the tense atmosphere reaches a boiling point, and the fate of the Collins family hangs in the balance.
