In the sixth episode of season 9 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, host Guy Fieri takes viewers on a journey to explore the world of BBQ, grilling, smoking and saucing. The first stop on this BBQ-centric journey is a joint in Austin, Texas called Micklethwait Craft Meats. Next up is a visit to the home of Alabama white sauce, Big Bob Gibson's BBQ in Decatur, Alabama. Fieri meets up with the latest owner in a long line of pitmasters, Chris Lilly, who shows him how to make the traditional white sauce made with mayonnaise, vinegar and horseradish. Fieri is tempted by the various smoked meats on offer but he saves room to try a uniquely southern dish - the BBQ chicken with white sauce. A bit skeptical at first, Fieri is won over by the tangy and creamy sauce and declares it a must-try.

Finally, Fieri lands in Portland, Oregon at Reel 'M Inn, a restaurant with a small but passionate following for their famous fried chicken. Owner Nick Zukin takes Fieri through the process of making the crunchy, juicy chicken that has turned his establishment into a cult favorite. The chicken is made fresh to order and comes out piping hot and crispy. Fieri declares it some of the best fried chicken he has ever had and gobbles up an impressive serving.

Throughout the episode, Fieri weaves in tips for cooking BBQ at home and shares his love for all things saucy and smoky. The episode gives a glimpse into the world of BBQ enthusiasts and the dedication it takes to perfect the art of smoking meat over various woods and imparting that perfect flavor to every bite.
