Dinosaur Train Season 2 Episode 16 A Heck of a Neck / Gilbert Visits the Nest
- August 15, 2012
In the episode "A Heck of a Neck / Gilbert Visits the Nest" of the popular children's show Dinosaur Train, viewers get to follow the adventures of Buddy and his family as they explore the fascinating world of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures.
The first part of the episode, "A Heck of a Neck," centers around a new dinosaur friend of Buddy's named Annie. Annie is a Brachiosaurus, which means she has an extremely long neck that everyone comments on when they meet her. Buddy is excited to introduce Annie to his family and show her around the world of the Pteranodon family.
As they explore together, the family realizes just how useful having a long neck can be. Annie is able to reach food that is high up in trees, and she can also use her neck to look around for danger or interesting sights. Despite the challenges that come with being a Brachiosaurus, Annie loves her unique feature and is happy to share her knowledge and skills with her new friends.
The second part of the episode, "Gilbert Visits the Nest," brings another new character into the mix. Gilbert is a Deinonychus, which is a smaller dinosaur that is often preyed upon by larger predators. Gilbert is nervous when he first arrives at the Pteranodon family's nest, but he soon learns that he has nothing to fear.
The Pteranodons welcome Gilbert into their home and show him around, introducing him to all of their family members and introducing him to the unique customs of their species. Through this process, Gilbert learns that even though different dinosaurs may have their own quirks and characteristics, ultimately, they are all just animals trying to survive and thrive in their own way.
Throughout both parts of this episode, Buddy and his family model friendship, kindness, and acceptance to their new dinosaur friends. By exploring the world of the dinosaurs through their eyes, viewers can learn more about the prehistoric world while also learning important values and lessons that apply to their own lives.
