Mike learns how insects can aid in criminal investigations and uncovers some surprising facts about how they are used in solving crimes.

The first job of the day involves collecting maggots from a dead animal to determine the time of death. Mike and Dr. Evans work together to collect the maggots and transport them back to the lab for analysis. At the lab, Dr. Evans reveals how the maggots will help narrow down the time of death to within a few hours.

Next, Mike travels to a local farm where he learns about the role insects play in pollination. He meets a beekeeper who teaches him about the importance of bees in the ecosystem and demonstrates how bees are used to pollinate crops. Mike even tries his hand at beekeeping and gets a taste of fresh honey.

Back at the lab, Mike takes part in a simulation to solve a murder mystery using insect evidence. He learns about the different types of insects that can be found at a crime scene and how they can be used to determine how long a body has been there. Mike is tasked with analyzing insect evidence to determine the time of death and reveal the killer.

In another job, Mike discovers the world of forensic entomology, which involves using insects to solve crimes. He meets a forensic entomologist who explains how insects can be crucial in determining the time and location of a crime. The entomologist shows Mike how to collect insects from a crime scene and analyze them in the lab.

In the final job of the day, Mike visits a facility that breeds insects for scientific research. He meets with researchers who explain how they use insects in their studies and how they breed them to meet specific research needs. Mike gets the chance to see some of the insects up close and learns about their unique characteristics.

Throughout the episode, Mike is amazed by the valuable role insects play in solving crimes, aiding in forensics, and pollinating crops. He gains a newfound respect for these tiny creatures and the important work they do. The show provides a unique and fascinating look into the world of forensic entomology and insect forensics.
