In season 4 episode 20 of the popular show Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, titled "Whipped and Wild," viewers get to follow Cesar as he encounters two very different dogs with very different behavioral issues.
The first dog in this episode is a miniature dachshund named Diesel. Diesel's owners have had him for four years and they love him dearly, but they are at their wit's end with his aggressive behavior. Whenever someone comes over to their house, Diesel starts barking and growling, and sometimes even tries to bite. His behavior has gotten so bad that the couple even had to lock Diesel in a separate room whenever guests come over. They desperately want to be able to have people over without having to worry about Diesel attacking someone.
Cesar starts his assessment by observing Diesel's behavior when he meets him for the first time. Despite his diminutive size, Diesel is extremely aggressive and does not take kindly to strangers. Cesar then observes the owners' behavior and notices that they coddle Diesel quite a bit, which may be contributing to his aggressive tendencies. Cesar advises them to stop babying him and to assert their dominance as the pack leaders.
Throughout the episode, Cesar works with Diesel and his owners to help the little dog overcome his aggression. He uses a variety of techniques, such as teaching Diesel to walk on a leash and showing the owners how to be more assertive with him. Along the way, there are some setbacks, such as when Diesel bites Cesar's hand during a training session. However, with Cesar's guidance, Diesel slowly begins to change his behavior and becomes less aggressive.
The second dog in this episode is a Great Dane named Shadow. Shadow's owners are a family with three children, and they adopted Shadow as a puppy from a breeder. However, as Shadow has grown bigger and stronger, he has become more and more unruly. He doesn't listen to commands, jumps up on people, and pulls on the leash during walks. The family is worried that they won't be able to control him as he gets even bigger and stronger.
Cesar starts by observing Shadow's behavior and immediately notices that he is very excitable. To help calm him down, Cesar suggests that the family take Shadow for longer walks and give him more exercise. He also shows them how to properly walk Shadow on a leash so that he doesn't pull and how to teach him basic obedience commands.
Throughout the episode, Cesar works with Shadow and his family to help them establish themselves as the pack leaders. He shows them how to be calm and assertive, and how to communicate effectively with Shadow. By the end of the episode, Shadow's behavior has improved dramatically. He is more obedient, calmer, and easier to control.
Overall, season 4 episode 20 of Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan is a great example of how Cesar uses his expertise to help dogs and their owners overcome behavioral issues. Whether dealing with aggression like Diesel or unruliness like Shadow, Cesar shows that with the right approach, any dog can become a well-behaved and happy member of the family.
