Escaflowne Season 1 Episode 9 Memories of a Wing

Hitomi is troubled by visions of the Wing Goddess as she tries to figure out her place in this world. Meanwhile, Van reveals the sorrowful fate that befell his people and the true reason why he pilots Escaflowne. When the group sets out to find the next entrance to Fanelia, they are attacked by a Zaibach Guymelef, but are saved by Van's skill and the power of the Escaflowne. However, the battle takes its toll as Van's body begins to deteriorate due to his misuse of the ancient mech. As the group seeks shelter to treat Van's wounds, Hitomi and Millerna come across a young girl named Eries who is looking for her missing sister. Continuing their journey, the group arrives at the entrance to Fanelia, but tensions rise as Dilandau and his subordinates suddenly appear. In the ensuing battle, Hitomi has a shocking vision that brings to light the true identity of Van's enemy.
