Blair Warner is horrified to find out that her cousin Geri has returned to Eastland School for Girls after having dropped out previously. But Blair is in for a surprise when she meets the new and improved Geri. Not only has she embraced the hippie lifestyle, but she's also got a new boyfriend, a hot musician named Mike. Blair is skeptical at first, but when Geri persuades her to attend Mike's concert, she starts to feel the rhythm herself.

Things take an unexpected turn when Geri announces that she and Mike are planning on dropping out of school and hitting the road to follow Mike's band. Blair is torn between her loyalty to her cousin and her obligations as a student, but Mrs. Garrett advises her to trust Geri and let her make her own decisions.

Meanwhile, Tootie's got a new crush - a guy named Adam who works in the kitchen. Jo and Natalie try to help her get his attention, but Tootie is soon having doubts when she realizes that Adam might not be the perfect match she imagined him to be.

As Geri's departure draws closer, Blair realizes that she doesn't want to lose her cousin again and decides to join Geri and Mike on the road. But when they get to their first gig, things don't turn out as planned and Blair starts to question whether she made the right decision. Will she be able to keep up with Geri's free-spirited lifestyle, or will she realize that she belongs back at Eastland?
