The show Facts of Life follows a group of young girls who all live together in a boarding school called Eastland. Season 5 episode 14, titled "Next Door," follows the girls as they discover that a new family has moved in next door to their house. While some of the girls are excited to welcome new neighbors and potential new friends, others are skeptical and suspicious.

As the girls begin to spy on the new family, they notice some strange patterns and behaviors. For instance, one of the family members always seems to be lurking around outside, watching the Eastland girls through the fence. Another family member seems to spend most of her time indoors, and the girls have never seen her outside or interacting with anyone else.

Eventually, the Eastland girls decide to try and befriend the new family, and invite them over for dinner. The dinner is a bit awkward at first, as both the Eastland girls and the new family members are hesitant and guarded. However, as the night goes on, the girls begin to open up and share stories and experiences with one another.

During the course of the dinner, the Eastland girls learn that the new family has experienced some tough times recently, including financial struggles and the death of a family member. They also learn that the family has been feeling isolated and alone since moving to their new neighborhood.

Feeling sympathetic and understanding, the Eastland girls decide to help the new family out in any way they can. They offer to help with chores, bring over meals, and even offer up some of their own possessions to the family. Over time, the two families begin to form a bond, and the Eastland girls realize that sometimes, it's worth taking a chance and reaching out to others.

Overall, "Next Door" is a heartwarming episode of Facts of Life that highlights the importance of empathy, kindness, and human connection. While the Eastland girls initially view the new family with suspicion and mistrust, they eventually learn to see them as individuals with their own struggles and hardships. By reaching out and offering help, the girls are able to form a meaningful relationship with their new neighbors, and learn some valuable life lessons along the way.
