Blair Warner is feeling sorry for herself in the beginning of this episode of The Facts of Life. She believes that she was born too late and missed out on all the good things of the past. She shares her thoughts with Mrs. Garrett who tries to put a positive spin on things by reminding Blair about all the good things about the present, such as modern medicine and technology that have made life easier in many ways.

The girls decide to put on a 1950s-style dance as a fundraiser for the school. Blair is excited to take part - she finally has a chance to experience a bit of the past and feel like she belongs there. She gets her hair and makeup done in the 1950s style and even wears a poodle skirt. The girls all have fun dressing up and practicing for the dance, but Tootie, Natalie and Jo start to get frustrated with Blair's behavior. She is so focused on trying to recreate the past that she forgets to have fun and enjoy the moment.

As the day of the dance approaches, Blair's obsession with the past becomes more intense. She wants everything to be perfect, just like it was in the 1950s. The other girls begin to feel like Blair isn't seeing them as people, but rather as props to help her recreate the perfect time period she missed out on. Tootie, Natalie and Jo decide to teach Blair a lesson by playing a prank on her. They make sure to play her favorite 1950's song, "Rock Around the Clock," and then tell her that no one showed up to the dance.

Blair is devastated but soon finds out that it was only a prank. The girls reveal to her that while the past may seem glamorous and perfect, it's important to live in the present and enjoy life for what it is. Blair finally realizes that she was born in the right time period and that she doesn't need to recreate the past to have fun.

The dance finally takes place and Blair is able to let go and enjoy the moment. The girls all dance together and have a great time, finally realizing that they are lucky to live in the present with all its modern conveniences and opportunities.

In the end, Mrs. Garrett walks in on the girls dancing and is happy to see them all having such a good time. They all take a moment to reflect on the lesson they learned - it's important to enjoy the present and not get too caught up in the past or worry too much about the future. Life is meant to be lived in the moment, and sometimes all it takes is a little reminder to help us see that.

Overall, this episode of The Facts of Life delivers an important message about appreciating the present and living life to the fullest. The characters all have their own unique perspectives on what it means to be "born too late," but they come together in the end to celebrate the moment and enjoy the time they have with each other.
