Ep 7. The Gift

When everyone on Earth loses consciousness for two minutes and seventeen seconds, the world is thrown into chaos. In Flash Forward season 1 episode 7, entitled "The Gift," the team at the FBI continue to investigate the cause of the global blackout, while it becomes clear that some people experienced visions of a possible future during that time.

In this episode, we see the team struggling to keep up with the influx of information they've received from the blackouts. They're trying to connect the dots between what people saw in their flash forwards and what's actually happening in the present. The team focuses on the case of a young autistic girl named Keiko, whose boyfriend saw her in his flash forward with another man. They believe the image may be related to a murder case they're investigating. However, as they begin to investigate, they find that their assumptions may not be entirely accurate.

Meanwhile, Demetri Noh, one of the FBI agents, is still dealing with the knowledge that he was one of the few people who didn't experience a flash forward. He's also haunted by a vision of his own death, which he believes will take place on March 15th, making him fear for his future. Demetri seeks help from a man named Mark Benford, played by Joseph Fiennes, who is dealing with his own vision of the future. Benford is still attempting to decipher his vision of himself and others wearing blue bracelets, as well as the possible meaning behind a cryptic message he received.

As the investigation progresses, the team finds themselves running into roadblocks in their search for the truth. They're not quite sure if the visions are accurate or if they can trust those that had them. They're also unsure if they should be trying to change the future or if they should just let events unfold naturally.

In "The Gift," the show continues to explore the idea of free will versus determinism. Many of the characters struggle with the idea of fate, and whether or not their future is immutable. Some characters believe they can change their destiny, while others think it's already set in stone.

As the episode comes to a close, the team uncovers a shocking revelation that shakes their beliefs to the core and forces them to question everything they thought they knew. They're left wondering if they have the power to influence the future or if they're merely puppets in a much larger plan.

Overall, "The Gift" is a thought-provoking episode that delves deeper into the mystery at the heart of Flash Forward. The show does an excellent job of exploring the human psyche and how people react when confronted with the idea that their future may not be entirely under their control. The characters are well-developed and the acting is solid, making for an engaging and emotionally resonant viewing experience.
