Season 5 Episode 1, the first episode of the fifth series, sees four new B&B owners from different areas of the UK and Ireland compete for the title of best B&B.
The first B&B featured is The Trevross in Great Yarmouth, run by couple Ian and Ann Bradley. The Trevross is a budget B&B with 24 rooms located near the beach. Ian and Ann hope to win over their guests with their friendly service and clean rooms.
The second B&B is The Royal Oak in Rhandirmwyn, Wales, owned by best friends Jennifer Scott and Lindsay Southcombe. The Royal Oak is a pub with six guest rooms that boasts a traditional Welsh atmosphere. Jennifer and Lindsay plan to wow their guests with their locally-sourced food and warm hospitality.
The third B&B is Woodside Lodge in Narberth, Pembrokeshire, run by couple Steve and Yvonne Huxtable. Woodside Lodge is a luxury B&B with six rooms set in a tranquil woodland surrounding. Steve and Yvonne hope to impress their guests with their attention to detail and indulgent breakfasts.
The final B&B is St. Judes in Skegness, owned by mother and son duo Linda and Joseph. St. Judes is a small, family-run B&B with just four rooms, located in a quiet residential area. Linda and Joseph plan to show their guests the true meaning of hospitality with their home-cooked breakfasts and personalized service.
Each B&B owner will have to face criticism from their competitors on every aspect of their B&B, from the quality of their rooms to the cleanliness of their bathrooms. The competitors will also have to pay close attention to all the little details and extras that can make a guest's stay truly memorable. After a night's stay, the guests will review their experience and decide on a score out of ten.
Throughout the episode, tensions are high as the B&B owners strive to showcase their establishments in the best possible light. Some of the competitors begin to clash over different approaches to hospitality, with others feeling the pressure to please their guests whilst also staying true to their B&B's unique identity.
