Four In A Bed Season 5 Episode 6 Vale of Berkeley Guesthouse
- October 7, 2013
Four in a Bed is a British television series in which B&B owners take turns staying at and critiquing each other's establishments, with the winner being the one that offers the best value for money. In this episode, the owners of Vale of Berkeley Guesthouse are welcoming their competitors to Gloucestershire.
Vale of Berkeley Guesthouse is a stunning 400-year-old Grade II listed property, with six individually decorated rooms, all en suite. The hosts, Jo and Jerry, are self-described perfectionists who take great pride in offering their guests a luxurious stay. They start the competition off by taking their guests on a tour of the picturesque village of Berkeley, pointing out its historical landmarks and explaining its importance in English history.
The other B&B owners first get a chance to inspect their rooms and pass on their initial impressions. Some of the rooms are more to their taste than others, but all are impressed by the high standards of cleanliness and lovely decor. Jo and Jerry then serve a cooked breakfast that receives glowing reviews. The guests then head off on their day's activities, each with their own unique itinerary.
Upon their return, they are treated to a tour of the guesthouse's beautiful gardens and a baked goods tasting session, where they are once again impressed by the effort that Jo and Jerry have put into making their stay special. The guesthouse owners then attend to their duties as judges, inspecting the competitors' properties and scoring them against a range of criteria.
The following day, it is the turn of the other guesthouse owners to host Vale of Berkeley Guesthouse. They are greeted with warm hospitality, an impressive afternoon tea spread, and a game of croquet in the garden. Each competitor puts their best foot forward, eager to make a good impression.
The rooms are again inspected, and despite some minor nit-picks, the other owners are mostly impressed with the attention to detail and high level of comfort offered by Vale of Berkeley Guesthouse. A home-cooked meal is also served to the guests, who savour the delicious flavours and lush textures.
Each of the competitors then critiques their hosts' establishment, revealing what they think about the rooms, hospitality, and overall value for money. Tension is high as each score is read out and the owners anxiously await the final results. In the end, only one establishment can be crowned the winner, with the winner being the one that offers the best value for money. Who will take home the coveted Four In A Bed trophy? Tune in to find out!
