Ep 1. Springbank Guest House

Four in a Bed season 8 episode 1, titled Springbank Guest House, follows four sets of bed and breakfast owners from different parts of the UK as they take it in turns to stay at and rate each other's establishments. As with every episode of the popular reality show, the pressure is on as the contestants compete to impress both their fellow competitors and the show's viewers in the hopes of winning the prestigious Four in a Bed trophy.

In this episode, the competitors head to the South West to stay at Springbank Guest House, run by husband and wife team Roger and Liz. The charming property boasts seven individually decorated en-suite rooms and is located in the picturesque village of Holywell Bay, a popular tourist destination on the north coast of Cornwall.

The first competitors to arrive are Martin and Karen, owners of The Shirley, a B&B in Liverpool. Martin, a former detective, wastes no time in conducting his own investigations of Springbank - from checking the plumbing to rifling through the dresser drawers to see if there are any hidden surprises for guests. Karen, on the other hand, is more interested in the finer details of the guest house, such as the quality of the bed linens and the presentation of the breakfast.

Next up are Margo and Paul, owners of the Rossendale Holiday Cottages in Lancashire. The couple take an instant liking to Springbank, commenting on the attention to detail in the decor and the stunning sea views from the rooms. However, their opinion soon changes when they discover that the guest house is not as dog-friendly as they had initially thought.

The third set of competitors are Becky and Andy, owners of The Alexandra Court Hotel in Blackpool. The couple arrive with high expectations, having won the Four in a Bed trophy in a previous series. However, they quickly realise that Springbank is not quite up to their standards, with Becky complaining about the lack of toiletries and Andy noticing the unevenness of the floors.

The final competitors to arrive are Glyn and Ray, owners of The Old Rectory in Wales. The couple are initially impressed by Springbank's location and decor, but quickly become frustrated by the lack of attention to detail, such as the poorly cooked breakfast and the stains on the towels.

Throughout their stay at Springbank, the competitors take part in various activities, from paddle-boarding to a quiz night. As the week progresses, tensions rise as the competitors begin to compare notes and score each other's establishments. Who will come out on top and win the coveted Four in a Bed trophy?
