In a parallel reality, the cold war isn't over. China has been split in two, Gorbachev has been assassinated, and the world has witnessed a nuclear Gulf War. The constant state of strife in the world has led to the development of Arm Slaves (mechanized mobile suits) and other Black Technology developed by the mysterious Whispered. One young arm-slave pilot, Sergeant Sousuke Sagara is an elite member of a privately funded, military organization named Mithril. Superior in his knowledge of tactics, and deadly in a weaponized mech suit, Sergeant Sagara is more than capable to handle any situation - that is until he crosses paths with a high-strung high school girl. The spunky Kaname throws Sagara's world into pure panic, when Mithril orders him to be Kaname's personal bodyguard. Based on the novels by Shoji Gatoh, this anime series follows Sagara's quest to protect Kaname, who is being targeted for unknown reasons by multiple terrorist organizations. This means blending into her life at Jindai High School, which will require all the help he can get from his comrades Sergeant Kurz Webber and Sergeant Major Melissa Mao. With their help and the entire support of Mithril, Sagara may just stand a chance at preventing global disaster. Then again, high school may be more dangerous than the military trained operatives can handle. Having never been a normal kid, Sagara finds blending-in harder than Mithril's Special Response Team had expected. Dealing with teachers, going on field trips, and making friends for the first time, Sagara realizes high school is a new kind of minefield. Yet, after spending so much time with the compelling Kaname, Sagara's young, and very jealous, commanding officer Tessa is worried that she may be losing her soldier to a different kind of enemy. One thing is for certain, however, Sagara and Jindai High will never be the same. Directed by Koichi Chigira and animated by Gonzo, Full Metal Panic! balances sci-fi action with comedic romance, featuring the voice talents of Luci Christian, Chris Patton, Vic Mignogna, and Allison Keith.
