Teenager Conor is living the dream as a professional gamer. At least he is until a career-ending thumb injury forces him off the gaming circuit and back to regular boring public high school. Faced with the everyday activities of high school for the first time, Conor views his new world through the eyes of a gamer, often imagining situations as if they were part of a video game, complete with flashing lights, music and points. Instead of abandoning games after his injury, he teams up with fellow gamers Franklin, Wendell and Ashley to found the first official gaming league at their school.

Dealing with the real world first-hand instead of through screens and buttons, establishing the league, and eventually aiming for a global championship puts Conor through some humorous learning experiences. In the end, the gamers discover the value of true-life friendships and experiences, and give the world the Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything.
