Ep 1. Castaway

Ledo, a young soldier of Galactic Alliance, takes part in an intergalactic war between two opposing factions, the Hideauze and the Galactic Alliance, fighting for the survival of humanity. However, during an intense battle, he is thrown into a wormhole and ends up on an unfamiliar planet, where he finds himself stranded as a castaway.

As he explores the new world, he discovers that it is a verdant, watery planet, with no signs of the advanced technology he's familiar with. He also comes across a giant ship, known as the Gargantia, filled with humans who survive by fishing on the seas. Realizing that he's far from home and has no way to contact his people, Ledo must come to terms with his predicament.

The initial reception for Ledo is hostile and frightening as he meets the people of the Gargantia, who have never seen anyone from beyond their own world. Ledo, being a soldier, is stoic, brusque and often rude, which doesn't help him fit in with the easy-going residents of the ship. He also meets a young girl named Amy who takes an interest in him and acts as his guide, showing him the ways of their people.

As the episode continues, Ledo struggles to fit in with the residents of Gargantia, learning how to fend for himself and help with their day-to-day activities. He learns to fish, dive, and communicate with the people around him, but he's still struggling with the fact that he can't contact his people. He longs for the war he's left behind, the companionship of his comrades, and his place in the army.

However, as he spends more time on the ship and with the people, he starts to realize that there's more to this world than just the war he's left behind. The residents of Gargantia are peaceful, happy, and content with their simple lives, something Ledo is not used to. He also has to come to terms with the fact that his world is far from perfect, and maybe the reason he's on this new planet is to learn from a people who have found a way to live in harmony with nature.

As the episode ends, Ledo is left with a decision: stay with the people of Gargantia and leave the war behind, or continue to search for a way back to his people and his war. It's clear that he's beginning to have feelings for the people of Gargantia and is starting to see the world in a new way, but he also has a sense of duty to his people and the war that's raging on. It's a decision he'll have to make in episodes to come.
