Ryan King, portrayed by actor Matthew Perry, is still working to heal from the loss of his wife in a car accident. He gets encouragement and support from his group counseling sessions that he regularly attends although not always contributing much to the sessions. Ryan tries to avoid the questions of the group who inquire about his wellbeing after he reveals his wife's passing, but he eventually opens up about his paralyzing grief.

In Episode 14 titled "Comeback Player of the Year," Ryan struggles with the aftermath of his latest meltdown. Lauren (Laura Benanti) helps Ryan get his life back on track. Ryan receives help from a sports icon who has experienced similar struggles when he encounters the football superstar Terrell Owens who guest stars in this episode. Owens is invited to join the support group, but it is not clear if he's going to participate or not. Later on, Ryan's boss Steven (John Cho) asks him to help out their new client Terrell Owens to overcome his football injury.

Meanwhile, Anne (Julie White), who is an assistant to Ryan, sets out to investigate the manners and groans of her fellow group members. She learns that everyone in the group has their issues, but hers is new since she just split up with her boyfriend. Sonia (Sarah Baker) puts her trust in Owen's natural healing methods while Dr. B (Bill Cobbs) deals with personal issues after his car explodes in an accident. Yolanda (Suzy Nakamura) is happy as ever when her manicurist begins to take an interest in her life.

In the latest installment of Go On, Ryan makes a tough choice as a comeback player of the year. He tries to help former NFL superstar Terrell Owens get back on his feet again and rejoin the football team after recovering from his latest injury. Meanwhile, Ryan's own comeback story is being followed too, and he is not sure he's ready for it. He dreads the spotlight and necessary fanfare that it would take to make his return to stardom, given that he has been in a rut for a while now.

The show's producers gave a tribute to veteran football player Jerry Rice's career and some of the challenges he faced as an athlete. Rice is also a guest star on the episode, and he shares some of his stories with the group. In the meantime, Ryan is all set to help Terrell Owens return to the sport that he loves. Ryan's boss Steven is his lead cheerleader and eagerly awaits the results from this project. Ryan's path to recovery is not a smooth one, and he finds out that he still has a lot to learn when he becomes Owens' mentor.

Throughout the episode, Ryan tries to make everyone happy, but it seems that there is no pleasing everyone, and he is unable to handle the pressure. The situation becomes overwhelming, and a shocking incident occurs that throws everyone off balance. Ryan is forced to face the truth and confess his mistakes.

In conclusion, Episode 14 of Go On, titled "Comeback Player of the Year," is an enjoyable episode that is full of surprises, humor, and emotion. The interactions between the characters are authentic and fun. The guest star appearances by Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice, both great football players in the NFL, are fantastic, and they add an extra layer of excitement to the show. The storylines are intertwined and keep the viewers engaged, making it a must-watch episode for fans.
