Oliver Douglas and his wife Lisa are city dwellers who had moved to Hooterville to live a simple and peaceful life. They had purchased a farm and intended to make a living from it. However, the farm proves to be more trouble than they had anticipated, with endless chores and unpredictable weather. In the episode titled "It's So Peaceful in the Country," the Douglases encounter some new challenges in their efforts to live a fulfilling rural life.

As the episode begins, Oliver is trying to make some headway on his farming chores. He has a long list of tasks to complete, but he is making slow progress due to a lack of time and energy. Lisa, on the other hand, seems content to spend her days lounging around the house and taking naps in the sun. Oliver is frustrated with her lack of ambition, but Lisa insists that she is just enjoying the peace and quiet of country life.

Meanwhile, the Douglases' neighbor, Eb Dawson, is having trouble with his cows. They keep wandering onto Oliver's property and eating his crops. Eb asks Oliver for help, but Oliver is hesitant to get involved. He doesn't want to upset his neighbor, but he also doesn't want to put his own farm at risk. Eventually, Oliver agrees to help Eb with his cows, but the task proves to be more difficult than he had anticipated.

To make matters worse, Oliver's tractor breaks down and he is unable to finish his own farm chores. He begrudgingly agrees to let Eb borrow his tractor, but the two men get into a heated argument when Eb accidentally damages it. Oliver demands that Eb pay for the damages, but Eb insists that it was an accident and he can't afford to pay for it. The argument gets so intense that Lisa has to intervene and try to calm the men down.

Despite the challenges, the Douglases are determined to make country living work for them. They come up with a plan to put up a fence between their property and Eb's, to prevent the cows from wandering onto their land. However, they quickly realize that they don't have the skills or materials to build the fence themselves. They turn to their friend, Mr. Haney, who runs the local general store, for help. Although Mr. Haney is skeptical of the idea at first, he eventually agrees to help the Douglases build their fence.

In the end, the Douglases and their neighbors come to a compromise and agree to share the cost of the tractor repairs. They also finish building the fence, which brings some much-needed peace and tranquility to their farm. The episode ends with the Douglases reflecting on the challenges of country living, but also the rewards that come with it. They may not have all the answers yet, but they are determined to make their new life work.

Overall, "It's So Peaceful in the Country" is a charming and entertaining episode of Green Acres that shows the joys and struggles of life on a farm. The episode highlights the importance of community and compromise when it comes to making rural life work. It's also a funny and heartwarming reminder that sometimes the simplest things in life can bring the most happiness.
