Gundam Seed Destiny Season 1 Episode 23 Sword of the Azure Skies

  • March 19, 2005

As the episode begins, we see Shinn and Lunamaria trying to get their hands on the Saviour. Unfortunately for them, it appears that Athrun and Meyrin have already taken possession of the mobile suit. During the battle, Athrun notices that Shinn has become more aggressive and reckless in his tactics. Worried about his friend's mental state, Athrun decides to confront him and try to talk sense into him.

Meanwhile, Chairman Durandal has gathered the leaders of the Orb Union, the Clyne Faction, and the Earth Alliance to propose a plan for ending the war. He suggests that all three factions work together to create a new world order that would eliminate the need for war. While most of the leaders are intrigued by the idea, Cagalli – the leader of the Orb Union – is hesitant to trust Durandal.

As Athrun attempts to talk to Shinn, they are interrupted by the arrival of the Destiny Gundam piloted by Kira Yamato. Athrun tries to convince Kira to help them stop Durandal's plan, but Kira remains neutral and refuses to take sides. He tells Athrun and Shinn that they need to talk things out and find a way to understand each other's perspectives.

Meanwhile, the Minerva – under the command of Captain Talia Gladys – is dispatched to investigate a mysterious object that has appeared on the outskirts of the battlefield. They discover that it is a giant floating fortress called the Messiah, which belongs to the Earth Alliance's Phantom Pain unit. The Minerva engages in battle with the Phantom Pain, but they quickly realize that their opponent is far more powerful than they anticipated.

As the battle between the Minerva and the Phantom Pain continues, Durandal begins his plan to launch a massive attack on the Earth Alliance's lunar base. He reveals to Cagalli that he has obtained a powerful weapon called the Requiem that can destroy entire cities in a single shot. Cagalli tries to convince Durandal that peaceful negotiations are still possible, but he insists that the Requiem is the only way to stop the war.

Back on the battlefield, Athrun and Shinn continue their conversation but are interrupted again by the appearance of the Destiny Gundam. The two pilots engage in battle, with Shinn determined to prove his superiority over Kira. However, Kira's combat skills and experience prove to be too much for Shinn, and he is eventually forced to retreat.

As the Minerva and the Phantom Pain continue their battle, they are suddenly attacked by a third faction – a group of mobile suits led by a mysterious pilot named Neo Roanoke. The Minerva manages to escape, but they are left with more questions than answers about their new enemy.

In the end, the episode sets the stage for the final battles of the war, with multiple factions vying for control and the fate of humanity hanging in the balance. It's a thrilling episode that sets up plenty of suspense and drama for the rest of the season.
