Gundam Seed Destiny Season 1 Episode 37 Athrun Escapes

Athrun Zala, the ace pilot of the Minerva, has had enough. Torn between his loyalty to his friends and his duty to ZAFT, he decides to escape from the ship in the hopes of finding a way to end the war once and for all.

As he sneaks through the halls of the Minerva, he encounters his old friend and comrade, Dearka Elsman, who tries to convince him to stay. However, Athrun is determined to leave and tells Dearka that he needs to do what he believes is right.

Meanwhile, the Archangel and the Eternal race to join forces with the Orb Union, which has declared neutrality in the war. However, they are intercepted by the Minerva and a fierce battle ensues. Kira and Athrun face off once again in their Gundams, but Athrun's heart isn't in it. He can't bring himself to fight his former ally and ends up retreating.

As Athrun makes his escape, he runs into a group of ZAFT soldiers who try to stop him. However, he is rescued by a mysterious stranger in a Gundam who destroys the enemy forces and tells Athrun to follow him. The stranger reveals himself to be Neo Roanoke, a coordinator who was believed to have died years ago in a ship explosion. Neo offers to help Athrun find a new purpose and gives him a new Gundam, the ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam.

Meanwhile, Kira and the Archangel make it to Orb and are welcomed by Cagalli, who has taken over as the new leader of the nation. Kira and Athrun reunite, but tensions between them are still high. Athrun tells Kira that he is no longer fighting for ZAFT and that he wants to put an end to the war, but Kira doesn't trust him.

As the Archangel and the Eternal prepare to launch a counterattack against the Minerva, Athrun decides to join their cause. However, as he heads to his new Gundam, he is confronted by his former teammates in the Minerva. They try to convince him to come back, but Athrun refuses. He then faces off against Shinn Asuka, the new ace pilot of the Minerva, in a heated battle.

The fight is interrupted by the arrival of the Earth Alliance's newest battleship, the Dominion, which is equipped with a powerful weapon capable of destroying entire cities. The Archangel and the Eternal launch a joint attack against the Dominion, but they are overpowered. It is only through the sacrifice of Mu La Flaga that they are able to destroy the weapon.

In the aftermath of the battle, Athrun rejoins Kira and the others on the Archangel, but tensions between them are still high. The war rages on, and Athrun is still searching for a way to end it once and for all.
