Ohana is feeling completely lost in the countryside. She wakes up early and begins her day doing the work she is asked to do, but she is finding it difficult to adjust to the new environment even though she is determined to make a new life for herself. She tries to understand her new colleagues and her new boss, but instead finds herself unable to communicate efficiently with them. This has led to an understanding that she will not make it in her new home and that she is getting what she deserves for abandoning her mother. Soon, she has to help her colleagues serve visitors from the city with a particular dish that is unique to the area, but she is inexperienced in cooking and quickly finds herself in trouble when she tries her hand at it. She hopes to impress her colleagues with her cooking, but it all ends in disaster.
When a group of guests visits the inn looking for a certain dish, Ohana is determined to impress them with her cooking. Her boss, however, assigns her to cleaning duty instead. Undeterred, Ohana ropes in her colleagues to help her make the dish in secret. Everything seems to be going well until the boss catches them in the act. Upset with Ohana for disobeying her, she throws the dish away and tells Ohana that her actions will have consequences.
Despite the setbacks, Ohana receives some good news from her mother. Her mother has paid her school tuition, but Ohana is then told that she must move back home. Unsure of what to do, Ohana begins to mull over her options while still doing her work, making her bed, and ensuring the inn is in top shape.
Meanwhile, Tohru, another employee at the inn, is also struggling with the realities of rural life. He is not used to manual labor or waking up early and has been clashing with Ohana. However, after a particularly difficult day for both of them, they sit down and have a heart-to-heart talk about their frustrations and struggles. They agree to work together and support each other through their difficulties.
As the episode comes to a close, Ohana prepares to return home but is distracted by the inn's guests. The group of diners that Ohana tried to impress earlier on returned to the inn to try the meal again. Even though they were unable to have it for lunch, Ohana and her team now serve it to them for dinner. The guests express their delight, and Ohana is content in knowing that she has made a difference in their experience.
