Ep 3. On the Rebound

Hangin' With Mr. Cooper season 1 episode 3, titled "On the Rebound", follows the story of Mark Cooper, a former NBA player who becomes a substitute teacher and moves in with two female roommates in Oakland, California. In this episode, Mark finds himself on the rebound after breaking up with his girlfriend, Vanessa, and tries to move on with his life.

His roommates, Robin and her cousin Geneva, try to help him move on by setting him up on a blind date with a woman named Cheryl. Meanwhile, Mark's friend and fellow substitute teacher, Tony, is struggling to teach his class about the Civil War. He asks Mark to help him out, but Mark is preoccupied with his date and brushes him off. However, when Mark later realizes that he has forgotten his wallet at home and cannot pay for the date, he reluctantly turns to Tony for help.

Tony agrees to lend Mark some money, but only if he agrees to help him teach the class. Mark reluctantly agrees and ends up giving a passionate and animated lesson on the Civil War, impressing both the students and Tony.

Meanwhile, Mark's date with Cheryl doesn't go as planned. Although they have a good time at first, things take a turn when Mark accidentally insults Cheryl's favorite band. Cheryl becomes upset and storms out of the restaurant, leaving Mark feeling even more down about his love life.

Back at home, Mark tries to drown his sorrows by watching a basketball game on TV. However, Robin and Geneva won't let him wallow in self-pity and convince him to go out and have some fun. They take him to a club where he dances with a woman named Beverly, who turns out to be Tony's ex-girlfriend.

As the night goes on, Mark and Beverly hit it off and end up leaving the club together. However, just as things seem to be going well for Mark, he receives a phone call from Vanessa. She apologizes for their breakup and asks to meet up with him. Mark is torn between his feelings for Vanessa and his new relationship with Beverly.

The episode ends with Mark sitting alone on his couch, unsure of what to do next. Will he choose to reconcile with Vanessa or pursue a new relationship with Beverly? Viewers will have to tune in to find out.
