Hayate no Gotoku season 1 episode 18, "Those Who Don't Give Up on White Day," revolves around the tradition of White Day, which is celebrated one month after Valentine's Day. The episode begins with Nagi, the wealthy and spoiled girl who employs the show's protagonist, Hayate, trying to come up with the perfect gift for Hayate after he had given her chocolates on Valentine's Day.

Meanwhile, the other characters in the show are also trying to figure out their gift ideas for White Day. Hayate is focusing on his job as a butler and is not showing any interest in celebrating White Day himself, although he does offer help to some of the other characters in picking out their gifts.

As the day progresses, Nagi becomes increasingly frustrated and agitated as she can't come up with a suitable gift idea for Hayate. She goes through various options, including a cookbook, a DVD, and a chess set, but none of them seem to be the right fit. Finally, she settles on getting a necklace for Hayate.

The episode also follows the other characters as they go about their own preparations for White Day. Hina, a classmate of Hayate, is seen trying to make homemade chocolates for someone she admires. However, her efforts result in disastrous, unusable chocolates. Ayumu, another classmate, is shown trying to figure out a gift for her crush, Hayate's friend Wataru.

The climax of the episode happens at the end when all the characters meet up at a cafe to exchange gifts. Nagi is excited to give her gift to Hayate, but just as she is about to present the necklace to him, the waiter arrives with a cake that Hayate had ordered as a surprise. Nagi is disappointed that her moment has been interrupted, but Hayate assures her that he appreciates the gift and the thought behind it.

The other characters also present their gifts, with some being successful and others not so much. The episode ends with everyone enjoying the cake that Hayate had ordered and reflecting on the importance of trying their best rather than giving up.

Overall, "Those Who Don't Give Up on White Day" is a lighthearted and comedic episode that explores the theme of gift-giving and the pressure that comes with it. It highlights the different approaches characters take to come up with gifts and the different outcomes that result. Despite the challenges that they face, the characters ultimately learn the value of persistence and the importance of trying their best.
