Amy is feeling the pressure of not being able to do as much for the animals as she would like, given that the Heartland farm has been struggling financially. However, when a new client comes to her with a potentially lucrative job, she jumps at the chance. The client, Lily, has a horse called Red and wants to enter him into a dressage competition, despite the fact that he has never been trained in this discipline before. Amy sees this as a great opportunity to make some much-needed cash for Heartland, and begins to work with Red.
However, as she works with the horse, Amy starts to realize that there may be deeper issues at play than simply training him for dressage. As she tries to get to the root of what's going on with Red, she finds herself in a difficult position, torn between her loyalty to the client and her devotion to the animals. Meanwhile, the rest of the Heartland family is dealing with their own issues. Mallory is trying to figure out her feelings for Jake, who has been spending a lot of time with her but seems reluctant to commit to anything. Lou is struggling to handle the financial pressures of running Heartland and trying to keep it afloat. Ty is trying to deal with his own demons, as memories of his past continue to haunt him.
As the episode continues, tensions begin to rise both within and outside of Heartland. Amy discovers that Lily may not be as honest as she seems, and that there may be more at stake than just the success of Red in the dressage competition. Mallory realizes that she needs to make a decision about her feelings for Jake, and Lou is forced to make some tough choices about the future of Heartland. Ty's traumatic past comes back to haunt him, and he must face the ghosts of his past head-on.
Despite all of these challenges, the Heartland family manages to pull together and support each other through everything that comes their way. In the end, each member of the family learns something new about themselves and their abilities to overcome adversity. The episode is a testament to the power of family and the importance of never giving up, even when things seem at their bleakest.
