The show was created by executive producer Arnold Shapiro, who produced a similar show called "Big Brother" and won an Emmy for his show "Rescue 911". The show focuses on the daily operations of the United States Department of Homeland Security and the men and women who work tirelessly to protect the country against various types of threats. The show follows different agents and officers who work for various departments within the Department of Homeland Security, such as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The series follows the day-to-day activities of the men and women of these agencies as they strive to protect the United States from terrorist attacks, illegal immigration, drug smuggling, and other security threats. Homeland Security USA provides an inside look at the technology, tactics, and strategies used by the different agencies and how they collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to keep the country safe.

The show is hosted by Phil Crowley, who is the Assistant Commissioner for Public Affairs for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The episode shows how TSA personnel utilize various technologies, such as X-ray machines and body scanners, to detect these threats.

The second episode of the series focuses on Customs and Border Protection and their ongoing efforts to prevent illegal immigration and drug trafficking. The show takes viewers to the border between the United States and Mexico, where CBP agents work long hours to secure the area and screen individuals who are trying to enter the country illegally. The episode also illustrates the use of advanced technology, such as high-tech cameras and sensors, and different patrol techniques to monitor the border.

Another episode of the series follows the efforts of the United States Secret Service to protect high-profile events and individuals, such as the President and other members of the executive branch.
