In Hyakko season 1 episode 3, titled "The Tiger at the Front Gate, A Tiger Also at the School Gate, A Paper Tiger," protagonist Torako Kageyama and her friends find themselves in the middle of a hectic day at school. The episode opens with Torako's friend Ayumi Nonomura running late to school and being stopped by a tiger outside the school gates. While Ayumi is initially frightened, Torako quickly realizes that the tiger is actually just a student in a costume for the upcoming school festival.
As Ayumi arrives at school and shares her encounter with the tiger, the group starts to speculate about what the theme of the upcoming festival might be. Meanwhile, the school's student council president, Tatsuki Iizuka, confronts Torako and her friends about their habit of always entering school through the back gate, instead of the front gate where the student council is stationed.
In an attempt to uphold school rules, Tatsuki challenges Torako and her friends to a game of paper-rock-scissors to determine the fate of their preferred gate entrance. To everyone's surprise, Tatsuki loses the game and is forced to concede to Torako and her friends.
The rest of the episode focuses on the group's preparations for the school festival, with Torako and Ayumi joining the student council's planning committee. However, the committee quickly hits a snag when they realize that they don't have enough funding to put on the festival that they've envisioned. With the help of Torako's resourcefulness and networking skills, the group comes up with a plan to secure the funding they need and put on a successful festival.
As the episode comes to a close, Torako and her friends reflect on their day and the lessons that they've learned about teamwork and working towards a common goal. Despite the initial challenges and setbacks, they're able to come together to create something that they can all be proud of.
