Kamichu! Season 1 Episode 4: The Earth is in Peril

The fourth episode of Kamichu! takes a turn towards the environmental as the students at Yurie's school work on creating Christmas decorations out of recycled materials. However, the stakes are raised when it is revealed that the Earth is in danger due to a giant asteroid hurtling towards it. As panic and chaos ensue, Yurie uses her newfound godlike powers to try and stop the asteroid from colliding with the planet.

The episode starts off with Yurie walking home from school with her friends Mitsue and Matsuri. They discover that the city is in the middle of a recycling campaign to create Christmas decorations out of reusable materials. Yurie, Mitsue, and Matsuri join in, using old cans and cardboard to create a star-shaped ornament. As they work, they overhear a news report about a massive asteroid hurtling towards Earth. Mitsue tries to brush it off, but Yurie is clearly concerned about the fate of the planet.

As the news spreads, the city becomes engulfed in mass panic. People flee their homes and rush to the streets, causing traffic jams and chaos all around. Yurie tries to use her powers to stop the asteroid, but finds that she is not strong enough on her own. Feeling helpless and overwhelmed, she turns to her friends for support.

To make matters worse, her crush, Kenji, is one of the people who have evacuated the city. Yurie is heartbroken that she is not able to see him and wishes for a way to speak with him. In her desperation, she turns to the Inari shrine to seek guidance from her deities. There, she is informed that the asteroid is the result of humanity's wrongdoing towards the Earth. Yurie realizes that she needs to rally everyone around the cause of saving the planet instead of panicking and only thinking of themselves.

In a heartwarming moment, Matsuri suggests they dress up as giant Christmas trees to spread awareness about their recycling campaign and promote positive environmental behavior. The plan works and they quickly gain followers. Yurie uses her godly powers to make the trees come to life and show everyone the beauty of nature and its importance. With the movement now in full swing, the city works together to lessen their environmental impact and take action to save the planet. As the asteroid gets closer, Yurie and her friends come together to use their collective powers to save the Earth.

The episode ends on a high note, with Yurie and her friends having saved the Earth from its catastrophic fate. The city is now in the middle of a new recycling campaign, trying to make sure the same mistakes are not repeated in the future. Yurie finally gets her chance to speak to Kenji, and she takes comfort in knowing that everything she did was for the greater good of the planet.
